Issued USGI Three Color Desert Field Pants

Issued USGI Three Color Desert Field Pants

The 3-Color Desert camouflage pattern was designed to replace the Six-Color Desert Battle Dress Uniform. Small production runs began in 1989, with very few uniforms reaching US troops before Operation Desert Storm.Ā Full scale production ramped up in 1991, with 3-Color Desert or "coffee stain" being most commonly issued during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

In most respects, these are your standard USGI field pants of the era. Featuring waist adjustment tabs, cargo pockets, and a forgiving cut. By the 2000s, the military decided it was tired of effective concealment and retired 3-color for UCP.Ā

The Short & Sweet:

  • Genuine US military surplus
  • Issued; Good condition
  • May be cotton ripstop or cotton poplin fabric
  • Adjustable waist
  • Spacious cargo pockets
  • Actually effective in desert conditionsĀ
